The CURO Symposium, an annual research symposium at the University of Georgia, provides an opportunity for all undergraduate researchers at various stages of the research process to present their research to the university’s academic community. The Symposium features concurrent Oral Sessions and a Poster session. Students may present in either format.

The Symposium:

  • highlights excellence in research by undergraduate students
  • provides a forum for undergraduates to disseminate their research findings and creative works
  • allows undergraduate researchers at UGA to engage, cooperate and communicate with their peers and university faculty and administrators

CURO welcomes submissions from all UGA undergraduates pursuing research from all disciplines. Undergraduate researchers at various stages of the research process are encouraged to submit abstracts.

Application Process and Deadlines:

Please review the current Symposium Call for Abstracts for details of the application process and deadlines.

Online submission will close February 10, 2017

2016 CURO Symposium:

The 2016 CURO Symposium was the largest to date, with 408 undergraduate researchers communicating their substantial accomplishments to their peers, mentors, and the public at large.

It featured presenters pursuing 85 different majors from 14 schools and colleges who conducted research with 246 faculty members from 69 departments.

Best Paper Awards

Papers on work being presented at the CURO Symposium submitted by the deadline will be considered for Best Paper awards in the following categories: Life Sciences; Public and International Affairs; Arts, Humanities and Media; Physical and Environmental Sciences; Social Sciences; Business; Technology, Engineering and Math.

To be eligible for a Best Paper Award, applicants must be presenting at that year's CURO Symposium.
